Our Personal Lines Actuarial team is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our growing team in Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters, or remote work location.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role within the Personal Lines Actuarial team is responsible for leading ongoing analysis of performance of all lines of business and states. The personal lines team supports lines of business that comprise roughly $2B in annual earned premium. 

This position offers a dynamic opportunity to own the indication process, communicate AvE results and facilitate top and bottom-line planning. Driving these key business initiatives includes collaboration with many business partners, including exposure to upper management. You will own and participate in advanced analytic projects that make a meaningful impact to our business success. All of this while actively pursuing your professional actuarial designation with the support of our Actuarial program.

This is a Full-time, Exempt role.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Ownership of all aspects of semi-annual actuarial rate indications and actuarial assumption updates including communication to business partners countrywide and by state

  • Communication of results of Actual vs. Expected loss performance and drill into favorable and unfavorable variances

  • Support pricing team and business partners in top and bottom-line planning and forecasting results

  • Development of technical reports to drill into key financials to understand and answer key business trends

  • Monitor and analyze profitability drivers and provide thoughtful recommendations to business partners

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience in property/casualty insurance.
  • Three or more Casualty Actuarial Exams.
  • Intermediate programming skills, including the ability to develop and automate processes (SQL, VBA).
  • Able to influence decision making and support recommendations.
  • Ability to multitask and meet all deadlines with quality analysis.
  • Thoroughness - Demonstrates careful attention to detail. Keeps tasks and responsibilities clearly defined, on schedule, and error-free. Carries tasks, assignments, etc., through to completion.
  • Information Seeking - Thoroughly investigates and researches multiple sources to expose details and complete information about resources, issues, problems, and so forth. Conducts in-depth research, asks probing questions, and transcends surface issues.
  • Communication for Results - Expresses technical and business concepts, ideas, feelings, opinions, and conclusions, so that others understand and/or are persuaded to act. Creates an environment that encourages and values the opinions of others and promotes sharing of information and ideas. Promotes and encourages people to speak up.
  • Conceptual Thinking - Synthesizes facts, trends, inferences, and key issues and/or themes in complex situations. Recognizes patterns and relationships between apparently unrelated entities or situations.
