Analyze oscillography, event records, and SCADA/RTU data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
Configure, test, and document protection settings (e.g., line, transformer, bus, and feeder) and IEC 61850/GOOSE communications
Execute retrofit and modernization scopes (relay upgrades, breaker replacements, digital substation integrations) with minimal downtime
Prepare high-quality service reports, as-found/as-left documentation, and redlines for drawings and settings files
Partner with project managers, applications engineers, and suppliers to plan outages, parts, tooling, and site readiness
Provide on-site and remote technical guidance to customer operators and maintenance teams
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your background
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus preferred) or equivalent military/industry experience
3-8 years in field service, commissioning, testing, or maintenance of high-voltage equipment or grid automation systems
Hands-on experience with protection & control (relay testing, settings, secondary injection) and substation apparatus testing
Working knowledge of SCADA/RTU, networking, and common protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850); cybersecurity awareness for OT environments
Strong safety mindset with familiarity in LOTO, arc-flash boundaries, and energized work practices; OSHA 10/70E or ability to obtain
Willingness to travel regionally with periods of night/weekend work during outages; valid driver's license
