The Personal Systems Strategy and Business Planning organization is responsible for defining the long-term strategy for Personal Systems, articulating the priorities, identifying the key growth initiatives and developing end-to-end business plans in order to successfully execute the strategy. The Director of Consumer and D&A Business Planning leads a team that drives the end-to-end business planning, including the long-term plan (LTP) and budget guidance, for the Consumer and D&A Business Units and drives alignment across the GBUs, functions and the Commercial Organization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic advice to Consumer and D&A Business Unit (BU) executive management and the regional/market leadership teams regarding overall targeted growth and capital strategy initiatives
- Translates PS long-term strategy into a set of key priorities, initiatives and KPIs within each BU
- Defines, develops and gains alignment on the end-to-end LTP and Budget across all key stakeholders
- Delivers data-driven insights and assessments of strategic business issues and opportunities
- Monitors shifts in ecosystems, technologies and business dynamics to identify implications for each BU
- Leads the identification and planning of key growth initiatives and provides implementation guidance to each BU
- Provides thought leadership, facilitates discussions and communicates across key organizations to develop the plan
- Leads high-impact organizational and operational planning initiatives, including M&A projects
- Creates end-to-end business plans for new areas and/or adjacent business opportunities
- Drives operational efficiency initiatives that improve HP profitability
- Provides business rational and risk assessment for making HP investments in their area of focus and balances short-term and long-term strategies and resource investment
- Integrate alliance partners into business long-term plans
- Establish a point-of-view on long-term market trends and build scenarios based upon insights
- Demonstrates thought leadership by coaching and advising EXEC3, EXEC2 and other company executives
- Influences C-level executives on a wide range of business issues, including risk management and implementation tactics
- Creates a performance driven culture that ensures HP has the best strategic planning team in the industry
- Provides strong leadership, develops and sets individual and departmental team performance goals and manages/drives change

- Strategic Planning & Implementation. Orchestrates the development of strategic plans that reflects HP's business strategy to advance market share/penetration and achieve profitable growth.
- Business and Financial Acumen. Exhibits authoritative business and financial acumen to develop meaningful business recommendations. Understands the portfolio aspect of HP's products/services and how the businesses work together.
- P&L Management. Sets and manages the business investments and resource allocations essential to ensuring the financial growth and health of the corporation.
- Vertical Industry Acumen. Develops and exercises a profound understanding of business dynamics within area of control, as a basis for informed business decision making.
- Execution Management. Collaborates effectively with HP BUs and value chain partners to ensure operational responsiveness to challenges, and alignment with business imperatives
- C-Level Partnering. Contributes to enduring executive relationships that establish HP's consultative professionalism and promotes its total solution capabilities at the highest levels of an organization.
- Change Management. Develops methods for supporting innovation and change across the organization.
- Problem Solving. Approaches problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensures comprehensive understanding and effective resolution.
- Workforce Planning. Builds acquisition and development strategies targeted to ensuring workforce readiness, and market opportunity responsiveness.
- Leadership. Able to lead effectively in a complex environment and deliver results; Able to influence without direct authority; Able to balance between competing priorities and be flexible and creative; Able to drive team performance to world class; Able to create and build highly effective teams and organizations; Able to communicate effectively across multiple levels in HP and the industry.
Education & Experience Required
- 17+ years total experience. Often 10+ years post-advanced degree experience leading highly visible workstreams and company financial improvement initiatives in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or market research.
- MBA highly desired, or advanced university degree. Bachelor's degree required
- Achieved planned financial results at an organizational level
- Diplomacy and ability to influence without authority
- Acted as a senior manager in a global company
