The SPS Life Science Business team is chartered to extend these assets with high-ROI solutions that fit the needs of new markets.
Tremendous opportunities exist to leverage HP microfluidics technologies and apply them to high value applications in the Life Science and Diagnostics industries. The SPS Life Science Dispense business is a profitable business that develops and sells dispensing products that leverage HP's world-class inkjet microfluidics technology and partner with channel partners to reach end-customers in labs around the world.
Position Overview:
This senior-level candidate will identify and lead the development of profitable business cases leveraging HP's microfluidics and dispensing capabilities, drive new product vision and strategy, and work with the team to close deals with partners. The successful candidate will evangelize HP microfluidics and dispensing technologies for Life Science and Diagnostics industries. This person will effectively marry HP technology to new applications and products through broad and deep external engagement with end customers, suppliers, thought leaders and consultants in the Life Science and Diagnostics industries; critically evaluate existing high-value workflows, identify pain points and determine where HP technology can bring strong value to customers in meaningful markets. The candidate will establish and present strategic new business investment recommendations to HP executive teams; which could include new business models, new business-to-business deals, acquisition opportunities and licensing plays. The candidate will also partner closely with HP leadership, marketing and R&D teams to develop product requirements, execute channel deals and commercialize new products.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development of microfluidics and dispensing new product portfolio vision and strategy.
- Engage with Life Science and Diagnostics industry leaders to solidify new growth opportunities for HP.
- Deliver business cases for new growth opportunities with concise presentation to HP executive investors.
- Develop robust market sizing, competitive analysis and quantitative validation for top line P&L assumptions including sales adoption rates and pricing strategy.
- Pitch HP value propositions to development and/or channel partner candidates. Determine channel partner criteria and prioritization and the management of the channel ecosystem. Lead deal terms and be accountable for the finalization of deals.
- Work closely with HP R&D and marketing teams to define pre-commercial and commercial product requirements.
- Build and execute strategies to place pre-commercial units with end-customers and partner candidates to refine product requirements and validate strong HP value propositions.
- Drive promotion and awareness of HP microfluidics and dispensing technology at Life Science and Diagnostics society events, tradeshows, symposiums and other industry venues.
**Requirements**
- PhD in Molecular biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or similar. MBA a plus.
8 years of Life Science or Diagnostics business leadership the with focus on business development, marketing and/or sales.
- Track record of developing and executing business and product portfolio visions.
- Established connections with Life Science and/or Diagnostics end-customer, suppliers, thought leaders and societies.
- Track record of success in customer facing roles.
- Accomplished ability to match technology to high-value applications by combining deep technical and business acumen.
- Proven track record of leading and executing successful Life Science or Diagnostics business to business deals and/or new business startup.
- Experience promoting new technology at industry venues; including podium presentation.
- Demonstrated ability to comfortably pitch to, operate and partner with executive leaders.
- Excellent materials preparation and persuasive presentation skills; including to customers, potential partners, senior leaders and internal commercial team.
- Interpersonal excellence with substantive display of operating effectively in a leadership role with fast-moving, cross-functional product development and commercialization teams.
**Desired Qualifications:**
- Authored or co-authored scientific publications.
- Experience working as scientist for BioPharma company or research institution.
- Patent holder.
- Life Science industry experience.
