The Learning Design Leader is responsible for ensuring that team members possess the appropriate knowledge and skills to participate in these activities both efficiently and effectively. They stay informed of emerging industry trends/opportunities (e.g., Generative AI's and automation's potential for learning design and development), anticipate their potential impact on the team, and systematically work to integrate innovation into the team's working processes. They manage a substantial portfolio of projects, and work hand-in-hand with L&K's Learning Portfolio Leaders to continuously qualify incoming projects and (re)prioritize work.

    Required Technical and Professional Expertise

    • Deep understanding of adult learning theory and applied instructional design

    • Deep understanding of learning assessment techniques, achieving/measuring training impact

    • Experience leading end-to-end design, development processes for training materials used in Conferences, Face-to-face courses, connected classrooms, Virtual classrooms as well as Self-studies, Job aids, Learning widgets, etc.

    • Experience applying IBM standards and brand specifications to learning materials

    • Experience creating "teachable" training materials for non-professional instructors

    • Experienced designing, developing adaptive learning solutions

    • Familiarity with impacts of Generative AI and Automaton on content and course development processes

    • Demonstrated success working efficiently, effectively with (senior) Subject Matter Specialists, including leading knowledge elicitation techniques

    • Experience leading and managing globally dispersed teams and pooled resources

    • Strong, applied understanding of design thinking

    • Strong, applied understanding of agile and hybrid (agile + waterfall) project management. Certification preferred.

    • Experience with high-volume portfolio management, especially intake/plate management, continuous (re)prioritization

    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Solutions and leading eLearning development/delivery platforms
