    Position summary

    stance of Houston, TX or must be willing to relocate to the area. This position may require travel to project location

    • Experience in Kafka administration and support.
    • Strong understanding of Kafka internals (brokers, topics, partitions, replication, retention).
    • Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and Schema Registry.
    • Experience with AWS, Kinesis, ETL Informatica, CDC, Postgres
    • Proficiency in Linux, shell scripting, and monitoring tools.
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
    • Experience in supporting Kafka in cloud environments (AWS, GCP).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least 5 years of experience in Kafka administration and support.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Scala, Java, or Python
    • Monitor, maintain, and optimize Apache Kafka clusters in production and non-production environments.
    • Handle Kafka-related incidents, service requests, and problem tickets.
    • Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of Kafka services.
    • Lead a small team of Kafka support engineers.
    • Coordinate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams for issue resolution and enhancements.
    • Act as the primary point of contact.
    • Implement and maintain monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) for Kafka health and performance.
    • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and log analysis.
    • Drive automation of routine support tasks and deployments.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of Kafka configurations, support procedures, and incident reports.
    • Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements.

    The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
