The Lead, Public Relations (LPR), supports the development and implementation of programs and systems to enhance, protect and promote Ingevity's corporate reputation among key constituencies. The candidate will work to enhance the company's news flow, be a key point of contact for the media and ensure a strong media relations infrastructure.
The candidate will collaborate with the Ingevity leadership team, global business unit leads, plant managers, and leadership of our functional areas (finance, legal, IT and human resources), along with other stakeholders like leadership for Ingevity's sustainability and government relations functions - to define objectives and create measurable, successful and timely communications solutions.
The LPR will also have Marketing Communications responsibilities for emerging technologies to support Ingevity's growth and innovation function. At present, this work will focus on coordinating and driving implementation of the strategic communications plan for the company's adsorbed natural gas (ANG) vehicle technology.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the Senior Manager, External Communications (SMEC), helping to enhance and coordinate a formal pitch calendar and overall news flow from the company, including writing, reviewing, editing and distributing news releases via wire services and targeted media lists of reporters/publications, as well as coordinating and crafting all pitch materials (eg. Pitch, prepared Q&As, infographic/visual aids)
- Supports the SMEC in collaborating with Ingevity's sustainability and government relations leaders to build a literature and resource portfolio for these new dedicated functions, including fact sheets, policy summaries and videos, as well as annual coordination and production of Ingevity's sustainability report
- Serves as contact for the news media; handles day-to-day media inquiries at the direction of the SMEC; researches answers and provides efficient responses to media inquiries and interview requests
- Monitors relevant media coverage of the company, its competitors and issues that affect the industries that Ingevity serves; prepares and distributes bi-weekly Ingevity Media Monitor
- Measures the company's visibility and effectiveness in delivering key messages; prepares and communicates quarterly analysis of media placement results with senior management
- Researches, coordinates and leads the application/submittal of materials for the employer recognition programs and corporate surveys in which Ingevity participates to promote the company and our culture
- Manages www.ingevity.com newsroom architecture; maintains pages for accuracy, consistency and currency
- Maintains crisis communications tools; writes, prepares Q&As and standby statements for issues as needed
- Develops and maintains corporate literature system, incl. fact sheets, overview decks and executive bios
- Supports the talent and acquisition team to organize and create employee profiles on social sites (eg. Glassdoor.com, fairygodboss.com) to promote Ingevity's strong culture and reputation
- Supports financial communications and coordinates with the finance department as needed; provides support in the production of annual reports, quarterly earnings reports, annual shareholders meetings, etc.
- Maintains Ingevity's social media presence across LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter
- Supports Marketing Communications for the key initiatives from the growth and innovation platform. At present, this includes annual development and implementation of editorial and digital communications for our activated carbon-based ANG technology group
Requires:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications or public or media relations; experience in the chemical, manufacturing, or other business-to-business environment in a public-facing role is preferable
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, English or liberal arts
- Exceptional writing ability, analytic and persuasive skills, ability to multi-task effectively
- Strong project management skills, including defining, organizing, planning, and executing projects from vision through implementation
- This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
