How you will impact Ingevity:

• Conduct research, development, engineering, and technology projects for breakthrough materials in the advanced automotive carbon technologies portfolio.
• Applies knowledge of material science, ceramic engineering and chemistry to develop a fundamental understanding of materials manufacture and performance
• Establishes and conducts tests, analyzes and interprets rest results, and prepares reports summarizing methods employed and results obtained in the solution of the assigned project.
• Conducts research in laboratory, pilot, and commercial scale environments.
• Requires the use and/or application of engineering or scientific principles, theories, and concepts to develop solutions to new or existing product challenges.
• Analyze existing design and features of products to identify improvements.
• Individual contributor for some assignments and in other projects will work with a team to define and align on recommendations for continuous improvement.

What you need to succeed:

• PhD in materials science, ceramic engineering or related field of study or MS degree with 2+ years in technical ceramic manufacturing.
• Fundamental knowledge and experience in technical ceramic materials formulation, design and development.
• Hands-on experimental experience in technical ceramic materials development and processing.
• A strong knowledge of problem-solving methodologies and application to complex technical projects.
• The ability to analyze and interpret experimental data, evaluate options, and make decisions and clear recommendations.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD design software.
• This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
