Physical Design Engineer

Component Design Engineers are responsible for the design and development of electronic components. Responsibilities may include: the design of chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation and characterization, documentation of specifications, prototype construction and checkout, modification and evaluation of semiconductor devices and components, performing developmental and/or test work, reviewing product requirements and logic diagrams, planning and organizing design projects or phases of design projects. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Qualifications listed as preferred or additional will be considered a plus factor for applicants.
- Candidate must have a Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
2+ years of experience in DRC/LVS runset and algorithm development. Specific experience with Synopsys ICV and/or Mentor Calibre.
6+ months of experience with:
- layout and/or schematic entry using Cadence Virtuoso and/or Synopsys Custom Designer.
- semiconductor device physics, models and technology scaling.
- industry standard CAD tools/flows for digital and/or analog design.
- software development/programming in high-level languages (e.g. C/C++, TCL, Lisp, Perl) and CAD tool scripting languages (e.g. Cadence SKILL).
- working on with UNIX/Linux platforms.
