Position summary

Monday, March 21, 2022 Power System Modeling & Support team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Energy Management System (EMS) breaker-node model used by system operations to operate New England transmission grid and used by market teams to administrator New England's wholesale market. PSM&S team is also responsible for 24x7 support of the EMS Network Applications used by ISO’s real-time system operators.   Lead and engage in the design, testing and implementation of power system model changes to the Energy Management System (EMS) with focus on power system applications, including power flow, state estimation, contingency analysis, SCADA, communications and markets applications. Develop a detailed and in-depth knowledge of the New England transmission system and the reliability and market applications that operate on the transmission model.     How you will make an impact Design, develop and implement power system modifications to the New England EMS transmission model Review system projects with System Planning, Operations Planning and Local Control Center (LCC) staff to identify projects, risk and priority assessment and identify those that require inter-departmental coordination.   Providing subject matter expertise for EMS transmission security applications and their interface with market applications Coordinate staging of power system modifications to the EMS and Market systems. Act as a liaison between System Operation, Market Operation and IT-PSMM section leaders.  Provide training for system operators, operations support staff and others, as necessary Providing day-to-day technical support and leadership of the EMS power system applications Paid On-call, 24x7 support of EMS applications on a rotating basis   What we are looking for Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power System Engineering Demonstrated ability to scope and review transmission project reports, with focus to assess, develop and communicate model requirements Excellent analytical skills Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities   Desired not required Experience with GE eTerraPlatform EMS environment or similar product Detailed knowledge of the bulk power system, energy management systems Lead Engineer:  Eight or more years in bulk system operations, transmission planning or modeling related experience.  Senior Engineer:  Five to Eight years’ experience in bulk systems operations transmission planning or modeling related experience.  Engineer: Two to five years’ experience in bulk electric systems operations transmission planning or modeling related experience ISO New England oversees the 24/7 operation of the power grid that covers the six-states of New England and administers the region’s $10+ billion “stock exchange” for the buying and selling of wholesale electricity.
