maintaining the lab environment, handling engineering materials, and managing purchase and new part requests. The Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the engineering lab and supporting project development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform soldering and rework on PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies) as needed.
Conduct electrical tests following detailed instructions provided by Electrical Engineers.
Manage and maintain lab equipment, ensuring all tools and devices are properly calibrated and functional.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
Generate NPR (New Part Requests) for components and materials needed for projects.
Create PR (Purchase Requests) for lab supplies and materials.
Handle the receipt, storage, and shipment of electrical engineering materials.
Assist engineers in debugging prototype units and providing feedback on test results.
Record test results, maintain lab documentation, and report findings to the engineering team.
Demonstrate the ability to multitask and manage various lab-related tasks efficiently.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance lab operations and project support.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Electrical Engineering Manager or Supervisor.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Electrical Engineering Manager.
This job is not directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Proficient in soldering and reworking PCBAs.
Basic understanding of electrical testing procedures and lab equipment.
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment.
- Familiarity with NPR (New Part Request) and PR (Purchase Request) processes.
- Ability to handle electrical engineering materials, including organizing shipments.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Windows-based operating systems and Office-related software.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform tasks accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to report findings clearly.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
At least 2 years of experience working as an Electronic or Lab Technician, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
