The Quality Engineering program offers multi-project rotations in areas such as new product development and lifecycle engineering throughout the product development process. After completing this 3-year program, EDP associates will continue in challenging engineering roles, delivering tomorrow’s surgical innovations. Are you ready to reimagine healthcare? In particular, the ETHICON business in Cincinnati, OH offers a broad range of products, platforms, and technologies—including surgical staplers, advanced energy devices, robotic surgery, capital equipment, advanced visualization systems, clip appliers, and trocars. Our innovations are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures in specialties including colorectal, thoracic, women’s health, cancer, and obesity treatment. Our Cincinnati site was founded 30 years ago and has developed innovative devices that have driven ground-breaking shifts in modern surgery! As an Associate Quality Engineer in the Engineering Development Program, you will: Have the opportunity to rotations throughout the lifecycle of the medical product development process over a 3-year period. This position may be assigned to quality activities in new product launch or life cycle engineering Have a strong support network of seasoned team engineers and mentors, guiding your technical and career development. Leverage cutting edge technologies, academic learnings, and fundamental engineering principles to contribute to design solutions in a dynamic, team focused environment. Collaborate with external partners and across Johnson and Johnson to identify and implement project solutions. Continue your technical growth and development through a wide variety of available on-site training courses related to statistics, risk management, process control and anatomy As the voice of quality, be the voice of the customer within the core team. The Associate Quality Engineer’s major responsibilities will include but are not limited to; Reliability modeling and test method development Ownership of the Risk management File and FMEA development, Failure Investigation and Analysis, Requirement Definition and Verification, Data Analysis (hypothesis testing, DOE analysis, process capability, linear regressions) Component Qualifications Design and Process validation Complaint Analysis (as applicable) Manufacturing Capability Assessment Procedure Development & Deployment Contributing to project plans as a team member under direction as needed. Qualifications Candidate must be a new college graduate, graduating no more than 12 months prior to their 2023 start date, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (e.g., BS, MS), in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Possess previous co-op, internship or work experience and demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities. Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship in the future. Additional preferred qualifications: Data analysis especially in Minitab including but not limited to: Hypothesis testing, DOE analysis, Linear Regressions, and Process Capability is preferred. Knowledge of 21CFR820 and ISO 13485 is preferred. Design for Six Sigma is preferred. Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is preferred. Knowledge of Risk Management tools like FMEA’s is preferred. Knowledge of CAPA Systems is preferred Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills are required. Comfortable working in a matrix environment and have the ability to connect with different functional groups and people who work in multiple levels while embracing and driving change.
