The RNA & Targeted Therapeutics group is part of Therapeutics Discovery in Janssen R&D and is engaged in developing novel therapeutics that require intracellular and tissue-specific delivery across the modality spectrum (including small molecules, biologics, and nucleic acids) in partnership with Janssen therapeutic area teams. We are currently looking for a highly motivated bioconjugation scientist to become part of our dynamic team in Spring House PA. #RND2022 Key Responsibilities In this position, the Associate Scientist will contribute to the development of various targeted therapeutics such as nucleic acid conjugates (siRNA, antisense, etc.), peptide/small molecule conjugates, or antibody conjugates. This scientist will work closely with team members to assist in the design of novel bioconjugates. S/he will primarily be responsible for the conjugation, purification, and analytical characterization of these molecules. S/he will also be responsible for routinely analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, and communicating experimental data. Additional responsibilities may include laboratory duties such as instrument and inventory maintenance. Qualifications Basic Qualifications M.S. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical/Biomedical Engineering or other related field with at least 1 year of relevant research experience OR a B.S./B.A. degree with at least 2 years of relevant research experience. Experience and Skills: Prior research experience in at least one or more of the following areas is required: bioconjugation, biochemistry, protein/peptide chemistry, nucleic acid chemistry or synthetic organic chemistry. Experience with bioconjugation methods and biomolecule purification/characterization is preferred. Experience with preparative biomolecule purification using automated chromatography systems (HPLC, FPLC) is preferred. Experience with LC/MS characterization of large molecules is preferred. The successful candidate will have a track record of problem solving, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
