The Molecular Immunology group within the Infectious Diseases Discovery Biology in Janssen BioPharma Inc. is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to join our efforts in the discovery of novel immunotherapeutics for chronic viral diseases. You will conduct or support in vitro and in vivo studies to drive forward discovery projects. As a Senior Associate Scientist, you will interact with external and internal colleagues as a key member of a multidisciplinary team whose aim is to identify and validate novel therapies targeting viral pathogens. Key Responsibilities: Engineering of new molecular entities via classical cloning methods Conduct in vitro immunoassays (ELISA) and western blot assays Transfection of mammalian cells with gene expression vectors Culture mammalian cell lines Assist in vivo mouse studies to assess cellular responses elicited by various vaccine vectors Designing, performing, and troubleshooting experiments Recommend improvements to procedures and protocols, ensure equipment is in working order, maintain accurate records of all data and procedures Contribute to scientific reports, prepare presentations, and share results and in a team-based environment. Qualifications Qualifications A B.S. with at least 4 years of laboratory experience or an M.S. with a least 3 years of laboratory experience is required Experience within the biopharmaceutical industry is preferred Knowledge and hands-on research experience in molecular and/or cellular biology is required Experience performing assays to measure cellular immune function such as ELISPOT is preferred Experience in flow cytometry (phenotypic profiling and intracellular cytokine staining) is a plus Advanced level ability to read, analyze and interpret data is required Knowledge of and hands-on experience with vaccine platforms is preferred Eye for detail and able to work productively with project team members is required Excellent social, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required This position is located in South San Francisco, CA, and may require approximately 10% travel.
