As a Data Engineer for J&J MedTech Digital Surgery (DS), you will play a pivotal role in building the modern cloud data platform for DS by leveraging your in-depth technical expertise and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will be required to focus on accelerating the digital product development as part of the multifunctional and fast-paced DS technical team and will contribute to the digital transformation through data solutions. One of the key success criteria for this role is to ensure the quality of DS software solutions and demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with the core infrastructure, data engineering teams and work closely with the DS security and technical quality stakeholders. Responsibilities: Work with the platform data engineering, security, and technical quality to design and develop DS data pipelines. Design, plan, implement, and support the enterprise grade cloud data solution for DS. Design and produce data engineering solutions for orchestration, lineage, quality, sharing, monitoring and access controls of various types of data including electronic medical records (EMR). Factor multiregional and multitenant components in the big data cloud architecture. Develop data engineering solutions for data ingestion, transformation, interoperability, orchestration, and consumption. Design and deploy data layering pipelines that leverage modern Spark based data processing architectures such as Databricks and Delta Live Table (DLT) technology. Enforce data pipelines security in all the systems components including control and data planes. Implement the shared security model for Azure managed services (Databricks). Design, implement and maintain Azure customer security controls. Implement automated CICD processes for data processing pipelines. Practice SAFe Agile DevOps principles and methodology in building quality DS technical solutions. Embrace test driven development to maintain the highest quality software engineering standards. Support DataOps capabilities for the distributed DS data architecture, use the data-driven approach in the decision-making process. Work closely with the DS Product Owners (PO) to understand the business needs, translate them to system requirements, demonstrate in-depth understanding of use cases in building prototypes and solutions for data acquisition and data processing pipelines. Manage authoring and execution of automated test scripts. Collaborate with DS Architecture, data engineering team to deploy data pipelines across DS environments globally. Function as a data engineering SME within the data platform. Build effective partnerships with DS architecture, core infrastructure, HSDI and other domains to design and deploy data engineering solutions. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in software or computer science 7+ years of overall IT experience 5+ years of experience in cloud computing and data systems Experience in design and implementation of secure Azure data solutions Proficiency with system tools for building data pipelines on Azure Expert level in Azure Databricks Spark technologies and data engineering SW development (Python, Spark, Scala) including Delta Live Tables (DLT) technology Deep understanding of principles of modern data Lakehouse Deep understanding of essential data engineering components such as Airflow, Kubernetes, Event Hub, Event Grid, Azure Functions, Storage, SQL and NoSQL DB Deep understanding of Azure Data Services Security and ability to implement the required controls for building secure and compliant data processing pipelines Deep understanding of EMR data formats and structures including FHIR Experience with building Azure ML models Experience with Data Lake, Data Warehouse management Experience with SW quality systems Experience with DataOps Ability to analyze and make data and make data driven decisions in building data processing pipelines. Deep understanding of and experience operating in the Agile framework Ability to define and implement prototypes and proofs of concepts Familiarity with the principles and methodology for developing enterprise-grade system solutions Practical knowledge of the principals of business, data, application, and technical domains of digital cloud solutions.
