The Lung Cancer Initiative (LCI), which is both a cross-sector and World Without Disease effort, is charged by the Executive Committee of J&J with meaningfully altering the course of lung cancer and improving survival by preventing, intercepting, and curing lung cancer. The Device Development Team Lead (DDTL) will develop and deliver the solution strategy for multiple programs or portfolios, each of which initially will focus on the Flex MC (robotically-assisted microwave ablation) technology but could also include other medical device developments including device/drug combination products. In this senior business role, the DDTL will be the single accountable leader responsible for end to end, cross-functional leadership of the program/s driving for success and ensuring that all business commitments are achieved. They will ensure that Program goals are cross-functional, and Company oriented and will collaborate and partner with functional area leaders to achieve these goals aligned with J&J Credo values. Responsibilities The DDTL will: Actively contribute to solution strategy decision-making by providing relevant research, analysis and expertise; Lead the communication of strategy and plans to LCI and Sector leadership, development partners and external partners; Lead teams to develop solutions in a timely and efficient manner with responsibility for implementing the overall solution strategy, including timeline, forecast and budget commitments; Establish key external partnerships to deliver solution strategy; Lead project team problem-solving and provide decision-making tools and techniques; Identify critical risks and assumptions, transparently communicate them and lead resolution of issues at the team and leadership levels. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Life Sciences is required. An Advanced Degree (e.g. Ph.D., M.D., M.B.A.) is highly desirable. A minimum of twelve years of medical device industry or related experience is required. Experience in a leadership role within a multi-functional R&D organization is required. Deep understanding of the end-to-end medical device development process and global marketplace including requirements for successful commercialization of a new product is required. Experience in clinical trial strategy execution is highly desirable. Proven end-to end, strategic approach working in a matrix environment is required. Demonstrated strong planning, critical thinking, problem-solving skills for developing creative solutions and meeting project objectives and contingency planning are required. Effective communication skills and demonstrated organizational change leadership are required. Proven influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to influence without clear reporting authority is required.
