The Director, Global Health Economics & Market Access, will work in close collaboration with Global Strategic Marketing, Regional Commercial Marketing, R&D, Medical Affairs, and Clinical, to ensure competitive advantage and market access of Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision (JJSV) products in a value-based global healthcare market by developing and executing systematic strategies that integrate health economics, payment policy, outcomes research and market access solutions across all stages of the product lifecycle. The position has both global and U.S. responsibilities. Position duties & responsibilities: HEMA is a key driver of business objectives at JJSV. The Global Driector HEMA drives commercial success of our products by ensuring patient access through all customer channels, demonstrates the value and efficiency of our innovative portfolio using clinical and economic evidence and leads development and dissemination of value-based deliverables; Supports the global JJSV business objectives with dedicated responsibility for the HEMA strategy for Cataract, Refractive Laser and Ocular Surface Disease product platforms; Improves patient access to new and existing products through favorable coding, coverage, payment and policy; Builds strong relationships with key society members responsible for policy and reimbursement Leads U.S. market access activities, which include developing and executing strategies to optimize reimbursement/market access and commercial success; Provides critical reimbursement and policy input on Business Development projects; Works to ensure market access requirements are understood and built into the product pipeline through Target Product Profiles and value propositions that reflect the needs of non-clinical stakeholders; Supports the development and execution of lifecycle evidence of value and market access strategies that enable market access and commercial success; Works collaboratively with regions to ensure value messages are clearly cascaded and to identify evidentiary requirements and potential barriers to access; Champions payer/provider stakeholders from a value requirement perspective by consolidating and distilling requirements from regional and key geography partners; Drives evidence generation from clinical programs and real-world evidence (RWE) sources to substantiate and sustain product value proposition; Leads the planning and execution of health economic and outcomes studies to support the businesses and direct the development of global market access strategies in support of business unit and or technology platform objectives; Manages research activities that include but are not limited to burden of illness, retrospective database studies, creation of global economic models and value messaging; Serves as a member and contributor to various business unit teams, providing functional expertise and leadership, and actively contribute to the business; Works closely with multiple cross-functional partners, including R&D, GSM, Business Development, Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Regional HEMA & Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal; Leads the JJSV Market Access team with direct people management responsibility and serves as functional head on GSM leadership team; Accountable for the development, management and tracking of HEMA goals & objectives and budget. Functional and Technical Competencies: Successful candidate will have a strong background in reimbursement, health policy, health economics, or evidence-based medicine and a track record of success. Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in health economics, outcomes research, or healthcare-related field preferred. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience in the healthcare industry and possess the ability to work from strategy development to execution and value creation in a dynamic organization. A strong understanding of medical delivery systems, reimbursement, market access conditions, and health policy trends in major global markets is required. Solid knowledge of evidence needed to drive favorable reimbursement and market access is required. Experience leading health economic or outcomes research studies from concept through publication (including management of research vendors or consultants) preferred. Global experience is highly desirable. Experience in ophthalmology is a plus. The base pay range for this position is (base salary $133k min to $199k). The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
