Position summary

In this exciting role as Medical Affairs Leader (MAL) Oncology & Internal medicine you are the Benelux medical leader responsible for the overall leadership & management of our Therapy Area medical affairs teams in solid tumors (e.g. urological cancers, lung cancer), Pulmonary Hypertension and Infectious Diseases & vaccines. As such, you are the proactive strategic medical partner within the commercial organization driving medical excellence, and acting as a bridge between the Benelux and the EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) Medical Affairs organization. The MAL Oncology & Internal medicine is a leadership role with important people management responsibilities, and will lead strategy building, execution excellence and change management at an organizational level. Scientific degree: Medical Doctor, pharmaceutical or biomedical degree or equivalent by experience A minimum of 10 years relevant experience within Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry combined with strong business acumen A Leadership track record in managing (multiple) teams and business operations Proven strong analytical, communication, influencing, decision-making and leadership skills for interaction with external and internal stakeholders Conceptual skills: able to have an integral view across different disciplines within the medical domains of Oncology & Internal Medicine Proven people management and team leadership skills: inspire, motivate, and develop talent to drive execution excellence and medical leadership with customers Languages: Dutch and English: excellent knowledge (both spoken & written) For the function Medical Affairs Lead Oncology & Internal medicine, the following qualifications are preferred: 15 years or more experience in managing professionals in the pharmaceutical or related industries, including ‘leading leaders’ experience Diverse background of professional experience in functions outside of medical affairs (commercial, market access, external affairs) Relevant experience/training in business administration Deep knowledge and experience in the fields of urological tumors and/or lung cancer Having a network of contacts in the field of oncology Understanding of Clinical Study operations The expected Leadership & Management Behavioral Competencies are: Leading and implementing a high level of medical integrity and health care compliance Creativity to shape and optimize treatment paradigms, in collaboration with external and internal stakeholders Thinking strategically to translate medical/clinical insights of treatment paradigms into growth opportunities, process improvement and driving competitive advantage Keen ability to make practical, realistic, fact-based, thoughtful and timely decisions while building a collaborative culture Stimulate and motivate people and teams to develop and execute medical excellence and medical leadership Patient centric thinking, putting patient needs central in developing strategies to differentiate the value we bring to customers Identify opportunities and take action to build strong scientifically based relationships; able to gather and represent professional views, partners with customers and internal stakeholders Defines ambitious goals and establishes priorities with clear responsibilities to ensure results; manages projects, activities and resources effectively Qualifications Personal characteristics Team player.
