    The Multislide Technician is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes by using basic metal working principles and theories to properly diagnose problems and implement corrective actions.  This person will implement all aspects of process improvement, equipment setup, testing, documentation, problem correction and repair or equipment in a timely manner.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Diagnose tooling and stamping progression problems and implement corrective actions as needed (REQUIRED)
    • Operate all portable power tools and hand tools, drills, wrenches, grinders and meters to trouble shoot and repair production equipment (REQUIRED)
    • Use basic metal working principles in order to properly diagnose problems and implement corrective actions (REQUIRED)
    • Work with limited direction to effectively diagnose problems and repair the equipment in a timely manner (REQUIRED)
    • Manage deadlines in completing breakdown, maintenance, and project activities (REQUIRED)
    • Make critical decisions under pressure on breakdowns while practicing GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) (REQUIRED)
    • Participate in and work with a production team environment.  Receive direction from team members as well as production/engineering supervisor/facilitator(REQUIRED)
    • Operate basic PLC controls on production equipment (REQUIRED)
    • Support engineering groups in implementation, tracking, and closing of ECN (Equipment Change Notice) documentation (REQUIRED)
    • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams to identify process equipment requirements for new or existing systems (REQUIRED)
    • Active participation in plant OEE/OSE (Overall Equipment/System Effectiveness) initiative within Maintenance Excellence Program (REQUIRED)
    • Use and maintain Ethicon’s inspection and measurement devices as needed to perform setups and maintain production equipment (REQUIRED)
    • Read and work from detailed wiring diagrams and pipe layout diagrams (REQUIRED)
    • Ability to run production metal working equipment as directed by facilitator to produce surgical needles of various sizes and types to exacting quality standards and close tolerances of +/-  .0001 (REQUIRED)
    • Setup precision equipment to specification (REQUIRED)
    • Make recommendations on changeover reduction initiatives (REQUIRED)
    • Support facilitator in providing direction and training to other lower level technicians on specific systems and maintenance procedures (REQUIRED)
    • Provide machine specific training to manufacturing associates on machine operating and setup functions (REQUIRED)
    • Support engineering groups in the development or written procedures for equipment planned maintenance (REQUIRED)
    • Make appropriate decisions, based on production priorities, as to the criticality of equipment during breakdowns, with the initiative to prepare as needed for the process (REQUIRED)
    • Support engineering groups in conducting equipment qualifications per written protocol to include mechanical and software systems (REQUIRED)
    • Take a leadership role within the multislide technician group to improve overall department performance (REQUIRED)
    • Ability to consistently manage a variety of tasks, and lead technical/manufacturing resources, while under pressure of the process (REQUIRED)
    • Investigate, diagnose, and coordinate repair of process equipment electrical and control system failures (REQUIRED)
    • Ability to use machine shop equipment to fabricate or modify machine components in a breakdown situation (PREFERRED)
    • Utilize PE (Process Excellence) tools in identifying root cause and corrective actions while conforming to specifications and safety requirements to eliminate repetitive failures (PREFERRED)
    • Ability to work independently towards a general result, with creative new methods (REQUIRED)
    • Ability to complete duties that include basic welding (PREFERRED)
    • Work in team environment behaving in CREDO based respectful manner (REQUIRED)
    • Comply with all federally regulated programs (REQUIRED)
    • Adhere to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines (REQUIRED)
    • Comply with all job specific safety procedures and utilize PPE when necessary (REQUIRED)
    • Comply with quality system requirements as defined within procedures and instructions (REQUIRED)
    • Use test equipment (Starett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, etc.) where applicable (PREFERRED)
    • Utilize applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire ADAPTIV, etc.)  (PREFERRED)
    • Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE’s), if applicable (REQUIRED)
    • Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives (PREFERRED)
    • Support Maintenance Excellence including 6S and Operator Asset Care (PREFERRED)
    • Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation) (REQUIRED)
    • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor  (REQUIRED)
    • Consistently meet required Training due date targets (REQUIRED)
    • Perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment in area assigned, keeping neat and correct records (REQUIRED)
    • Determine necessary tools and material requirements for specific assignments (REQUIRED)
    • Identify and recommend electrical and mechanical devices and components for equipment spare parts inventories (PREFERRED)
    • Take responsibility to ensure spare parts are available to maintain equipment in proper running condition (REQUIRED)
    • Perform work in safe manner, as well as keeping equipment clean and in safe working condition (REQUIRED)
    • Support manufacturing in day-to-day troubleshooting situations and actively participates on VSB (Value Stream Board) to maximize production equipment uptime (REQUIRED)
    • Interface with appropriate manufacturing representatives to ensure manufacturing operations and projects receive effective technical support (REQUIRED)
    • ROTATING SHIFTS 7 PM – 7 AM 12 HOURS REQUIRED
