    Overall Responsibilities

    Our Principal Development Engineer leader is responsible for leading efforts from concept to full scale manufacturing with respect to machine vision and process controls. This Development leader will work on an innovative new platform technology. This role is uniquely crafted for an individual contributor that will play a vital role in new innovation.

    To be successful in this role, an individual must possess: in depth understanding of fundamental engineering principles to controls, software development, vision systems and automation; excellent engagement skills to serve as a catalyst in a new project team; the ability to drive the execution of a technical learning plan; a creative, solution-focused demeanor to overcome technical challenges; the ability to seamlessly collaborate with multi-functional resources to bring full-scale production solutions to market; passion for health care and medical device technologies.

    • Demonstrate outstanding technical mastery: critical thinking, first principle approaches, curiosity and problem solving.
    • Drive precision in the Design-to-value strategy for the project
    • Build a technical solution that meets Customer requirements, cost targets, quality metrics that is designed for manufacturing.
    • Performs activities of material design and process development (DOX/ DOE, material transformations, etc.).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Understand customer needs and facilitate translation into process engineering solutions while balancing tradeoffs and business impact.
    • Serve as a SME by providing high level guidance to strategies involving long-term vision of automation, controls and vision systems
    • Conduct and/or participate in technical design reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, etc.
    • Plan, design, develop, qualify, validate, and stabilize vision systems, software packages and automation equipment
    • Provide guidance to NPD teams on Design for Manufacturing/Assembly/ Cost and drive robust product and process development that meets business commitments and stabilization metrics
    • Incorporate risk mitigation methodology to drive process stability and capability
    • Qualify new equipment controls and perform vendor and site acceptance testing to meet appropriate and applicable engineering/government standards.
    • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving equipment, systems, and process problems to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformity and provide guidance to other Engineers and line technicians in problem solving efforts.
    • Transform work processes to accelerate the pace of innovation; identify work process and procedural solutions that enable innovation productivity
    • Serve as a change agent by creating a learning culture and experimental mindset within the department and organization to improve how work gets executed
