Principal Scientist

Janssen Advanced Material Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group is recruiting for a  Principal Scientist located in Beerse, Belgium.

The Principal Scientist will join the Advanced Material Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group within Analytical Development. AMCI is an international and diverse team of scientists performing advanced analytical characterization of pharmaceutical products and leading analytical investigations for the commercial product portfolio and for the Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS) organization of Janssen R&D. The AMCI group consists of different analytical centers of excellence such as primary packaging and combination products, colloidal sciences, rheology, particle identification, particle and powder characterization, metal testing, NMR, excipient & polymer characterization, and oligonucleotide & peptide analytics. We are currently looking for a highly motivated Principal scientist to join our team. For this laboratory-based position, you will work together with internal and external specialists in drug product development and analytical development teams to find innovative solutions for in-depth characterization for new modalities/drug delivery platforms supporting combination products such as long acting injectables, oligonucleotides and liposomes from the perspective of understanding the physical properties of the products and the interactions between the devices and drug product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen the combination products/colloidal sciences team in the AMCI group in Beerse.
  • Scientifically lead projects and investigations from early to late development phase with emphasis on novel formulations and drug delivery platforms.
  • Design, lead and perform analytical characterization work with the highest scientific standards in the area of combination products (medical devices/packaging) and colloidal sciences.
  • Apply state-of–the art knowledge to ensure quality of the delivered results.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and show ability to learn and explore new techniques.
  • Contribute and lead building new analytical expertise for new modalities (nano-suspensions, liposomes,…) and drug delivery devices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, GMP and safety.
  • Initiate and lead collaborations with external partners and universities to ensure appropriate testing methodologies for new drug delivery systems
