The Scientific Director, Global In Vivo Models & Scientific Collaborations Lead will establish and execute a global in vivo models & scientific collaborations strategy in support of Janssen’s discovery portfolio including internal and externalized in vivo research activities. The role will also Implement strategic frameworks for in vivo models & scientific collaborations areas of focus that includes research support, in vivo models development, development of scientific collaborations, excellence in scientific understanding and areas for contribution in the R&D discovery pipeline, and proactive advancing non-animal alternatives and 3Rs considerations. The role will provide strategic oversight and matrix reporting lines for in vivo models & scientific collaborations activities conducted by the global IVS teams located in La Jolla CA, Spring House PA, San Francisco Bay CA, and Beerse Belgium. In partnership with the Vice President of In Vivo Sciences (IVS), local IVS site management teams, and R&D stakeholders, this role will ensure harmonization and standardization across the sites to ensure portability of science, to minimization of variables in in vivo studies, and to drive high ethical standards and quality.
The Scientific Director, Global In Vivo Models & Scientific Collaborations Lead will be responsible for fostering a collaborative culture and will work with a large number of internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. The Scientific Director, Global IVM & SC will serve as a visible and effective change agent for global initiatives and will seek to provide strategic decision making for all areas of responsibility while nurturing the ideas of others.
This role will indirectly (through matrix relationships) lead a team of DVM, PhD and technical level staff providing leadership, mentorship, and career development opportunities for his/her global team members. This role will be responsible for future innovation strategy, budget, resource and timeline commitments for in vivo models & scientific collaborations activities.
