The Lung Cancer Initiative (LCI), which is a cross-sector initiative, is charged by the Executive Committee of J&J with meaningfully altering the course of lung cancer and improving survival by preventing, intercepting, and curing lung cancer. We are seeking for a highly motivated lab-based Scientist to complement our Discovery Biology team of LCI at Spring House, PA (USA). The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of exploratory immuno-oncology (IO) scientists and will play a key role in the evaluation of new drug concepts using in vivo models of cancer. This role will be responsible for execution of key studies to develop new lung cancer therapies and will expand the LCI portfolio. The role includes design/plan /execution of studies using syngeneic/orthotopic models of cancer and validation of new IO targets. The role will also require the analysis and presentation of the scientific data to the different groups within LCI to support the clinical progression of different targets. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (CORE Responsibilities) Execute in vivo immune-pharmacology studies that utilize syngeneic/orthotopic mouse model of cancer to evaluate efficacy of investigational IO drugs. Execute immune based assay development to support pre-clinical drug development projects, in particular utilizing cancer cell, myeloid, T-cell based co-cultures and ex vivo analysis. Design and conduct novel studies to support new target validation, analysis of results and presentation to LCI leadership teams. Present preclinical data package to pre-clinical, clinical and solution development teams. Support collaborations with academic investigators including advising on experimentation, analysis of results and conducting complementary experiments. There may be some travel Qualifications Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) with 0-3 years post-doctoral experience or in a pharmaceutical or academic environment OR BS with at least 12 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or academic environment OR a MS with at least 9 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or academic environment Significant hands-on experience of mouse tumor models (syngeneic /orthotopic), in vivo pharmacology and design/conduct in vivo efficacy studies is highly required. Experience of Initiating, planning, and executing experiments that support projects relevant to lung cancer immunotherapy is required Designing and conducting in vitro and ex vivo assays including T/NK cell dependent cytotoxicity and Immuno-phenotyping using multicolor flow cytometry is required Demonstrated ability to present scientific content to diverse audiences is required Learning agility and ability to works across multiple projects highly desirable Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
