Seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative Scientist with a passion for discovering and developing therapeutics for viral infections. The candidate will join our efforts focused on the research of novel respiratory virus therapeutics. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support the discovery and development of therapeutics for a wide range of respiratory viral infections including SARS-CoV-2, human rhinovirus, and influenza. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, conducting, and coordinating key biological studies focused on assay development, mechanism of action, resistance selection, and the development of new tools to study and treat respiratory virus infection. This will be a fast-paced, scientifically rigorous position and the role will suit a scientist who is able to thrive in this type of environment. Essential Duties and Job Function Independently design, execute, interpret, and troubleshoot a range of experimental studies that will support the selection and development of candidate molecules Act as an individual contributor and/or functional leader for multidisciplinary projects by providing scientific and technical input for go/no-go decisions Identify, initiate, maintain, and support external collaborations with both academic and industry partners to advance the selection and development of candidate molecules Supervise, mentor, and develop associate scientists. Provide scientific and technical guidance to more junior scientists within the group Communicate scientific ideas and accomplishments both internally and externally through reports, publications, and presentations Qualifications Qualifications PhD in Virology or a B.S. with 12 years of relevant industry work experience is required A strong proficiency and skill set in developing and troubleshooting in vitro assays is essential. Extensive experience in cell culture (cell line and primary cells) and molecular biology techniques (such as qPCR and cloning) is required Must have good written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate ideas and data into concise written and oral communications for publications, conference presentations, and regulatory filings is required Strong motivation, independence, and ability work collaboratively a fast-paced multidisciplinary team environment with minimal supervision is required Previous experience in drug discovery and demonstrated competence for people management would be preferred.
