Position summary

The Software Defined Network (SDN) Design Engineer Lead will play a pivotal role in crafting the design and engineering of J&J’s innovative global network infrastructure, with a primary focus on the Asia/Pacific region. Collaborating closely with network architects and senior design engineers, you will accord your expertise to the engineering team's efforts in crafting next-generation network design. This role encompasses a wide spectrum of future centric technologies including Cloud, Data Center, WiFi6, Wireless WAN/5G, SDWAN, while also encompassing the maintenance and improvement of the core enterprise network.

Our Committed team of engineers is at the forefront of developing the upcoming network to support J&J's digital cloud initiatives. In this role, you will be accountable of formulation of networking solutions, working in concert with peers to assess vendor offerings and integrate third-party cloud solutions and providers such as Office365 and Amazon Web Services.

As an integral member of the engineering team, you will exhibit intermediate proficiency in enterprise WAN, LAN, and WLAN technologies, actively participating in the creation of cost efficient enterprise network designs. Furthermore, your familiarity with network virtualization, cloud computing, Next-Generation Firewalls, and other innovative technologies will be of paramount importance.

A key aspect of your role will be translating intricate problems and abstract concepts into practical technology solutions, concentrating on areas like automation, orchestration, and fault management. You will meticulously file these designs and lead all aspects of communication and implementation on a global scale.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 20% - Collaborate in the evaluation of network design requests pertinent to the Asia-Pacific region, serving as the main contact for in-region projects. Partner with senior staff to define requirements and desired outcomes.
  • 20% - Pursue regular communication channels with architecture, deployment, and operations teams, offering guidelines insights on network design-related inquiries.
  • 30% - Engage with senior engineers to develop forward-looking network solutions, including Cloud Networking and Data Center designs, substantiated with comprehensive documentation, templates, use cases, and validation testing.
  • 10% - Consult with colleagues and management to establish network standards, providing quality documentation and training for regional support teams.
  • 10% - Collaborate with the Automation and Tools Engineering team in crafting scripts for the automated deployment of configurations.
  • 10% - Accomplish the release management strategy devised by senior engineers, encompassing documentation updates, validation testing, and communication of new code versions to pertinent teams.

Other Duties:

  • Maintain consistent communication with peers in network delivery, network security, and network operations.
