The Targeted Therapeutics group is a part of Therapeutics Discovery in Janssen R&D and is engaged in developing novel therapeutics that require intracellular and tissue specific delivery, across the modality spectrum (small molecules, biologics, and nucleic acids) in partnership with Janssen therapeutic area teams. We are currently looking for a highly motivated and technically proficient bioconjugation scientist to become part of our team. In this position, the Associate Scientist will contribute to a team working on discovery, design, and characterization of antibody conjugate-based drug candidates such as ADCs. This scientist will primarily be responsible for conjugation of antibodies, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, and small molecule payloads; purification of these conjugates using standard chromatography methods; and characterization of the molecules with a variety of bioanalytical tools. The scientist will coordinate with team members to assist in design and characterization of molecules. Additional responsibilities may include laboratory duties such as maintaining instruments and inventories. Qualifications M.S. degree with at least 5 years of relevant research experience OR a B.S./B.A. degree with at least 7 years of relevant research experience performing progressively advanced duties is required Must possess training/experience in one or more of the following areas: Bioconjugation; Protein Purification; Preparative and/or Analytical Chromatography; Protein Characterization Experience with AKTA chromatography systems or similar required Experience with LC/MS characterization of large molecules is preferred The successful candidate will have a track record of problem solving, good organizational habits, excellent communication skills, the ability to work under timelines, and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams. Interest and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and be capable of handling multiple tasks while meeting timelines. Ability to lead projects and work productively in an interdisciplinary team environment. Flexibility to adjust priorities over time to meet organizational and scientific goals.
