    The Senior Associate Scientist, Histology works in the Preclinical Sciences & Translational Safety (PSTS) Pathology Department, and reports directly to the PSTS Molecular Pathology Laboratory (La Jolla, CA USA) Supervisor. This position contributes by providing technical support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform routine histology workload with minimal supervision, including but not limited to tissue trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining (H&E, special stains, and molecular pathology assays such as localization of target genes and proteins using immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization staining).
    • Perform cell culturing and FFPE cell pellet making from positive/negative control cell lines.
    • Demonstrates familiarity with automated histology and molecular pathology equipment.
    • Works closely with the Pathologists and other scientists across functional groups and departments.
    • Assists with the maintenance of laboratory records and master schedule/calendar.
    • May perform various rodent (rat, mouse) in vivo tissue collection for process optimization.
    • May create study documentations (i.e. select data files, reports, and/or data summaries).
    • Performs timely inventory and lab supply orders.
    • Coordinates materials and biological sample shipping and handling.
