Johnson & Johnson is redefining medical intervention by combining advancements in medical robotics, instrumentation, navigation and data science. We are building a platform technology capable of expanding the applicability of robotics to a spectrum of medical procedures. Overview Johnson & Johnson is seeking a highly motivated individual who is a self-starter and is passionate about electrical design for sophisticated and complex robotic systems. This position places an emphasis on working closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure our products are compliant to the relevant medical device IEC standards. Candidates must be self-motivated, independent and have an eagerness to learn and work as a team, and a desire to thrive in an exciting environment. You are expect to be able to independently resolve approaches to difficult technical problems, and have communication capabilities vital to communicate broadly across engineering teams. Core Job Responsibilities Perform system hardware compliance testing for IEC medical safety and EMC standards such as IEC60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, CISPR22, ISO for safety and EMC compliance in a regulated environment (UL, TUV, FDA) Act as a strong advocate for IEC6060-1 compliance. Expertise of IEC60601-1 set of standards is required, including monitoring and planning for changes related to the IEC60601-1 standard set. Provide design reviews and feedback to the electrical engineering design teams on design for EMC & Safety compliance. Act as a subject matter expert from PCB to system level. Develop specifications, system protocols, test protocols for design verification activities and compliance testing in a regulated environment (UL, TUV, FDA) Interface and maintain strong relationships with compliance test labs (EMC, Environmental) and medical device design consultancies Act as a technical lead for all compliance related projects and tasks. Plan & schedule programs, lab test time, monitor tests and ensure that test reports are properly released Communicate status, plans to the multi-functional engineering and program management team, with excellence Qualifications Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience: B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience. 5+ years of experience with analyzing/testing complex electromechanical systems, their subsystems and components Expert knowledge of IEC EMC standards, including IEC60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, IEC61000-4-6 or equivalent, for complex medical systems Proficiency with lab test equipment including multi meters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies Proven experience with troubleshooting of sophisticated systems to include circuit issues, EMI/EMC/ESD mitigation Experience with design verification & validation activities in medical device industry Excellent communication & presentation skills with internal and external partners and engineering leader Desired Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience: Experience designing and developing complex electrical systems from feasibility through to production Technical/design leadership and management of projects including external contractors, partners, and suppliers We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
