    Within Janssen Research & Development, the Biotherapeutics Development & Supply (BTDS) organization is responsible for the development, clinical supply, marketed product support, and life cycle management of Biotherapeutics. Within BTDS, the Analytical Development (AD) group supports method development and validation, release, and stability analysis via automated workflows.

    The Laboratory Automation & Robotics team is recruiting for a Senior Robotics Engineer (Sr. Scientist) to collaborate in leading laboratory/systems design, development, and implementation. This role is based in Malvern, PA. You will utilize scientific process and robotic systems expertise to collaborate with Assay Automation and Integration colleagues in delivering the design and implementation of end-to-end laboratory automation workflows for biotherapeutic process development and formulation analytics. Primary scientific areas of focus will be protein, viral, cell, and gene therapies, automating analytical workflows such as antigen binding, molecular, cell-based, flow cytometry, capillary electrophoresis, chromatography, and peptide mapping.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the design, development and integration of robotic or process automation tools such as sample management/storage and accessioning systems, cell culture systems, dispensers, sample handling robotics, and mobile robotics.
    • Collaborate in the design, development, and implementation of hands-free end-to-end laboratory automation workcell solutions (Driven by Biosero Orchestrator/Green Button Go®, HighRes® Biosolutions Cellario, or Thermo Scientific™ Momentum)
    • Collaborate with Data Science to integrate data flow and data systems
    • Lead automated process/methods qualification, training, and transfer activities
    • Collaborate with the assay automation lead and assay SME to influence and align on system components and workflow
    • Optimize automated systems, expand capabilities, and support technical investigations
    • Collaborate with automation team members to support or maintain automated systems as needed
    • Knowledge transfer and cross-training
    • Ensure data integrity through accurate and timely data capture/entry into appropriate systems
    • Author protocols, work instructions, SOPs, or presentations
