    Role Overview

    Reporting directly to the Strategic Sourcing Director in Limerick – the successful candidate will drive procurement activities around  supplier relationship management best practices (SRM), sourcing processes and delivery of results to meet & exceed the Surgical Vision Franchise procurement objectives with primary focus on New Product Development and Introduction. 

    The successful Candidate will ensure that Strategic Sourcing is an early key partner with a seat at the table with R&D for developing and executing New Product sourcing strategies and provide overall co-ordination, facilitation and enablement of programs that will drive best practice.

    Major Responsibilities

    In partnership with key stakeholder functions including but not limited to R&D, Supply Chain, Supplier/NPI Quality, Technical Operations and Category Management, optimize quality, supply reliability, innovation and cost through early supplier engagement and management during the product development process for assigned programs and areas of responsibility.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Assist and provide guidance to the Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision business in the sourcing, selection, evaluation and qualification of suppliers of materials and services for all assigned projects.  Projects will primarily be focused on establishing the overall supply base for new vision surgical products in alignment with the supply base strategic direction.
    • During the product development cycle perform the role of Supplier Relationship Manager engaging at an executive level for key suppliers that are supporting NPI activities.
    • Develop and execute a technology roadmap in partnership with the Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision R&D, Business Development and Supply Chain organizations to support supplier and category strategy development.
    • Lead negotiation and supplier selection process while partnering with the Johnson & Johnson Vision R&D, Legal, Business Development and Supply Chain functions and respective Category leaders, to establish supply and other relevant agreements with key partners during the development process.
    • Drive process to provide inputs required from Strategic Sourcing for the NPI Development stage gates and other management report outs. 
    • Drive innovation through identifying and developing supplier capabilities to meet future technology needs.  Collaborate closely with the enterprise Supply Chain and R&D Procurement category teams to influence and execute against category strategies where possible in new product introductions.
    • Lead Local procurement initiatives as needed.  Support transition of NPI suppliers into the sustaining organization.
    • Utilize best practice tools such as Cost Breakdown/Gap Modeling and Pre-Negotiation templates
    • Become the Supplier Innovation Champion, by developing novel ways to bring innovation to the NPD team.
