The Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) department handles the critical buildings, HVAC, utilities (steam, cooling media, heating fluids, water systems, pressurized air, high voltage, nitrogen, …) and installations (steam generator, cooling cells, air handling units, clean rooms, …) on the sites of Beerse, Geel, Olen and Gent; from the central production and distribution to our chemical and pharmaceutical production- and R&D buildings.

Within E&PS, we are currently looking for a Process Safety Engineer. The first focus will be on the Geel Site since this is a high-threshold Seveso site due to the storage and handling of hazardous substances. In addition, the necessary attention will go to our Beerse site (low-threshold Seveso site), and the smaller make sites in Gent and Olen.

You are responsible for the implementation of the process safety program for utilities, facilities, and environmental systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

The focus is to ensure technical safety of the infrastructure by:

    • Developing a long-term vision for improving safety and legal compliance of technical installations in close collaboration with the internal EH&S department, production, engineering, and other campus functions.

    • The development of work processes for risk management and the translation into procedures, standards, and tools, including:

      • Risk assessment and risk mitigation (HAZOP, SWIFT, PLANOP loss of containment analysis, LOPA evaluation, JSA/JHA, FMECA, RCM …)

      • Functional safety (SIL, SRS)

      • Calculation of emergency relief systems (PSV, rupture disc)

      • Explosion safety (Explosion Protection Document, ATEX Impact Assessment, …)

      • ...

    • Assuring compliance with existing and new legislation (Seveso SIT tools, internal EHS standards, …): Identify and scope opportunities for improvement and follow-through on realization.

    • Supporting the Base Business Capital Planning process.
