Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) and Targeted Therapeutics is an organization within Therapeutics Discovery committed to the delivery of high-quality drug candidates in the novel synthetic modalities space working closely with all six Janssen Therapeutic Areas (TA) discovery teams. The Senior Scientist will be responsible for the design and optimization of saRNA vaccine therapeutics to support multiple TAs. This individual will collaborate across the TAs and manufacturing groups to drive TA specific programs. The candidate will work closely and collaboratively with both internal and external partners to advance potential products into the clinic. We are searching for an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate that enjoys working in a highly collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute in vitro assays for the characterization of free and LNP formulated replicons Design and engineer replicon RNAs for optimal vaccine efficacy Collaborate across multiple functional teams to select optimal formulations for replicon delivery and efficacy Provide project leadership for RNA drug discovery programs across multiple TAs Qualifications Qualifications: A minimum of a PhD degree in a Scientific or related discipline is required. A minimum of 3 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech industry and/or post-doctoral experience is required. Expertise in vaccines, molecular biology, and immunology is required Hands on experience in design, modification and optimization of mRNA is required. In depth knowledge of in in vitro synthesis, purification, and stability analysis of RNAs is required Hands on experience in characterizing in vitro/in vivo activity of saRNA and mRNA is preferred. Must have the ability to effectively multi-task and advance various projects simultaneously. The ability to collaborate across teams in a matrix environment is required.
