    The Sr Director of Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for leading and directing Engineering and Technology activities in alignment with franchise, sector and site objectives for Surgical Vision.

    Develop strategic roadmap and execution plans for automated IOL production

    • Leading overall technology transition (resource, capital, timeline, technology, capability)
    • Driving IOL moulding network implementation in Limerick and Groningen

    Develop strategic network strategy as the business moves to automated IOL production and new product introductions

    • Mould tooling, site by site process capabilities, site by site testing capabilities, site by site engineering capabilities, major portfolio transitions (Trio, PV…)

    Develop Robust Capacity Plans

    • Lead all new capacity and facility expansion programs
    • Partner on strategic capacity planning with Plan and Value Stream Leaders.

    Lead major capital programs, equipment installations, CAR development and presentation to management, program management

    • Develop and implement a major programs group per the standard Vision engineering model

    Acting as a strategic partner to the business, this position provides overall leadership to the manufacturing engineering group, setting and ensuring the effective deployment of technical & operational strategies to provide sustained competitive advantage while developing a strong and diverse team with deep subject matter expertise.  This position will ensure effective links between Manufacturing Engineering objectives and business strategy and results.

    This role will be responsible for creating to capability within manufacturing engineering to manage and deliver capacity expansion programs for the Surgical Vision business, in partnership with the ETD function.

    The holder will globally lead the manufacturing facilities from an Engineering perspective to ensure reliable, consistent supply and partner in BP delivery which includes performance/product improvements, CIP and asset management. They will represent the broader engineering organization at E2E forums and will form a critical part of the JJV Engineering Leadership team.

    An ability to leverage internal and external stakeholders for innovation, while ensuring standardization of best practices in all aspects of the role, from technical to talent, will be core

    Strong collaboration with all stakeholders, both Technical (R&D, Equip Development, Quality, IT) and Managerial (S&D, Product Management, Finance, E2E) together with business acumen will be key to success

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead a high performing diverse, technical, global team that creates competitive advantage for SV through deployment of the best technologies and practices
    • On an ongoing basis, continuously upskilling a strong technical, diverse team that is focused on business outcomes is core to the role
    • Lead the SV Manufacturing Engineering & Technical strategies for current and LRFP horizons
    • Partner closely with R&D commercialization Leads, Supply chain Technology leads, Platform leaders, Planning, external partners to ensure fit for purpose manufacturing strategies are in place and being executed
    • Ensure that best practice and strong governance is employed in new technology delivery, from design to handover to manufacturing
    • Partner with JJV Design Team (ETD), to develop a strong global network of Vendors that bring innovation, speed of delivery and value for money to Surgical Vision
    • Resolve escalations in a prompt manner to enable the function/ business to deliver on commitments
    • Self - development to ensure this position remains current with an effective strategic direction
    • Network and externally Benchmark to ensure the shaping of Manufacturing & Engineering strategies are current and future proofed
    • Lead, direct and develop Site based Engineering Directors
    • Create Talent strategy to ensure strong and sustainable pipeline of top talent at each location (Groningen, Añasco, Limerick, Upsalla)
    • Actively lead and participate in the cross functional Engineering Promotional Panel and broader talent development processes
