EVM Department: The Engineering-Validation-Maintenance (EVM) department (> 35 persons) is a motivated and dynamic team responsible for the technical support of all utilities, production and laboratory areas and all involved equipment at the Janssen Vaccines & Prevention site in Leiden. We work in a challenging environment where we make great progress in commercializing our vaccines. Engineering has a large project portfolio to sustain/improve the existing environment. The Compliance group looks after the correct qualification and validation status of GMP critical equipment and processes. Furthermore, the compliance group is responsible for the overall quality and safety programs within EVM. The key-focus point of the maintenance groups (U&B, Automation and Equipment group) is asset maintenance management of all assets within JVP. Job Description: As Sr Project Engineer, you play a crucial role in sustaining/improving the existing environment/infrastructure. You are responsible to deliver high-quality end-to-end project results meeting the internal partner needs within the complexity and dynamics of a research and development organization. We have a large Capex project portfolio. You will lead/manage your own projects and you play a crucial role in managing our EPCM partner. You will work closely with the other EVM teams and internal partners in order maintain the department’s right to provide engineering services to the business and enable excellence in a safe, high quality and continuously improving R&D organization. You will further strengthen the EVM organization. We are in the process of shaping our engineering portfolio management process to fulfill the increased business demands. You will play a crucial role in this exiting journey. Furthermore you will: Support EVM project portfolio (e.g.: End Of Life projects of technical systems (HVAC, production/lab equipment, water/gas systems, etc.), lab/clean room refurbishments, technical feasibility studies) in such a way that projects are completed on-time, within budget and in accordance with the required quality. Lead Engineering/feasibility studies. Prepare and write project management documentation (Project plan, planning, Risk assessments, cost calculations, resource planning, etc.). Prepare & write technical specifications (e.g.: URS) and test protocols. Supervise/manage external engineers. Be setting up/executing Change Controls in full compliance with GxP regulations. Prepare and execute FAT, SAT’s. Hand over completed projects to operational departments and EVM maintenance teams. Maintain/improve asset maintenance management within Capex projects. Improving the engineering processes by using PE tools, Project management tools, and supporting departmental goal setting Support setting up the annual Capex budget and controlling it throughout the year Setting priorities of Capex projects and aligning them with the departments involved, constantly assessing, and improving the efficiency of the processes within the engineering team, so that the technical assets and the resources are optimally utilized. Implement new engineering technologies (e.g.: Building Information Modeling) and process technologies/innovations to further optimize our R&D production processes. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent education). Specific Knowledge and experience: Minimal 4-6 years of work experience as project engineer/project manager in engineering/technical environment. Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulations is preferred. Strong project/portfolio management skills. Good people management skills. Good influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints. Good command of Dutch and/or English in word and writing. Experience with Lean methodology.
