The Staff Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, works in the design and development of next generation Inner Ocular Lens (IOL) surgery systems. In this role you will lead workstreams and work cross functionally in developing the surgical cart and/or critical subsystems. This key role will provide designs and prototypes engineering solutions, contribute to the design for manufacturing analysis and generate design control deliverables, while collaborating across functions. Works in compliance with GMP/GLP, Quality System Regulations, safety, environmental, and corporate policy standards.

Responsibilities:

• Designs, prototypes, and verifies mechanical engineering solutions for phaco equipment working both hands-on and collaboratively
• Performs research and development functions in mechanical engineering to develop design and process solutions to complex problems.
• Lead workstreams for surgical cart or subsystem within the ME team or cross functionally,
• Makes layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices and mechanisms. Provides technical engineering for mechanical components integrated in the equipment systems.
• Works with internal and external development partners to bring system from concept to production.
• Helps to develop and works within project milestone plan and budget.
• Identifies and resolves technical issues to ensure feasibility and sustainability of Equipment products. Contributes to the design for manufacturing analysis.
