As a part of the QC Lab situated at the Janssen Biologics Manufacturing site in Leiden, the Bioassay test team is responsible for execution of test methods using various biological techniques (e.g. ELISA, PCR, Cell Culture), samples ranging from early clinical up to commercial process control, release and stability. The Bioassay department is divided into four specialization groups: ELISA team, Bioassays team, Cell Culture team and qPCR/Lentivirus team. This specific vacancy is for the qPCR/lenti team. This team is specialist in qPCR, ELISA’s and lentivirus handling including working in a MLII laboratorium. The Bioassay department consist of around 45 people. Main responsibilities: Training on and understanding complex testing and laboratory practices including difficult calculations and prepare documentation that shows results of tests performed Provides support to the laboratory by performing operational tasks such as equipment maintenance and calibration, preparation of samples and reagents, document management, etc. Generates results data, analyses data, and reviews with peers and supervisor Delivers on test activities in line with the schedule and lab priorities with a good record of right the first-time testing Learns & Teaches about and adheres to safety & compliance best practices Learns & Teaches about working in a GMP / GLP environment and performs work according to these standards Displays knowledge of products manufactured at specific location, and understanding of the QC methods relative to the product quality Will act as a role model to the team Will coach, support and proactively help the people on the lab where needed Continuously improves capabilities and expands responsibilities within the lab Initiates and coordinates discussions with quality, engineering and other relevant departments to develop corrective actions for reoccurring problems. Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree (MLO/HLO) in Life Sciences, molecular biology or comparable Written and oral communication skills in English. Dutch is desirable. Experience with bioassay techniques; ELISA, cell culturing, qPCR, bindings assays, cell-based bioassays is a plus Experience with working with virus material is a plus Analytical thinking and (technical) problem solving.
