Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. The Ethicon business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies including— sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, energy devices and synthetic mesh devices—that are used in a wide variety of minimally-invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, oncology, and obesity.
The Skin Closure Coop position will entail the research and development of next generation topical skin adhesives and skin closure systems, a fast growing segment of the skin closure market. It is an opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of hardworking scientists and engineers on a challenging and important project. Successful completion of the project will play a meaningful role in advancing it to the next stage. Work on adhesives and "Stick with us"!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparing synthetic adhesive formulations
Crafting and Evaluating prototypes
Performing studies and developing test methods and fixtures
Collaborating with engineers and outside suppliers to support project related activities
Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes
