KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Director, Head of Data & Platform Operations to join our Enterprise Data Services (EDS) organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the assessment, design, and execution of all Data Engineering and Operations (DEO) IT service management practices, such as Change, Incident, Problem, Knowledge and Request Management and all Operational Continuity Disciplines; be accountable for maintaining the operational state, stability, and performance of business applications and data platforms and data pipelines, serving as highest escalation point for all ITSM related topics for EDS portfolio (service disruption, incident management and resolution)
  • Lead continual service improvement and ongoing process maturity through regular reviews of the process and tools, trend analysis and metrics reporting and through regular engagement with stakeholders; create and maintain a roadmap for ITSM vision, delivery objectives, performance, metrics, and governance; identify opportunities to introduce new service management practices to the DEO environment to support high quality customer delivery
  • Define and publish enterprise and vendor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and supporting Operating Level Agreements (OLAs) and regularly report on compliance with these agreements; develop key practice and process performance measures and consistently report metrics to IT & EDS leadership and other stakeholders; oversee and optimize a Platform and Support run budget of ~ $10M+ annually; take accountability to set and manage annual budget for team/function including expected expenditures related to labor, software, hardware, vendors, etc.
  • Lead the development and periodic testing of the technical disaster recovery plans for platforms which also include periodic plan refresh as changes occur in the business or IT architecture; take charge of life cycle management of DEO platforms required for business operations; maintain an inventory of IT assets and manage risks associated with aging components; develop and sponsor annual capital projects for software requiring upgrades
  • Manage the creation of, and ongoing adherence to operational process, procedure and standards including operational handoffs, documentation, reporting, etc.; champion IT service management practices across the organization by collaborating with Organizational Change Management to show the value of IT services for our end users
  • Assess and balance tactical and long-term operational needs continually via monitoring and trend analysis; ensure current and forecast future needs for ongoing application stability; focus intently on continuous improvement opportunities; manage vendor teams (MSP) providing operational support services; ensure compliance to contract, SLA’s, metrics; perform ongoing contract management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten years of recent, direct experience building, implementing, or leading IT service management practices using the ITIL framework including management of internal staff, multi-disciplinary teams, managed service providers and geographically dispersed teams

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field

  • Demonstrated experience with managing vendor teams, including SLA tracking and contract management; proven success with “managed services” and outsourcing models; solid experience in managing operations of IT applications and data platforms (cloud and on-prem); experienced with techniques for measuring results, such as SLA’s, metrics, KPI’s, etc. along with working knowledge of IT financial management topics including budgeting, cost allocation, vendor license and SOW management; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven competence communicating with all levels of the organization; ability to create high level presentations for executives and stakeholders

  • Experience working with or implementing the ServiceNow platform, with a focus on areas like Incident, Problem, Change, and Knowledge Management as well as experience with the CMDB; knowledgeable of IT functions outside of operations (https://e.g., project delivery, development, security, compliance, architecture, etc.); ability to facilitate efficient interaction with other IT functions and manage their impact to operations

  • Deep understanding of run-time environments for key data and technologies: Informatica (MDM, ETL, Catalog, IDQ, Azure Data Lake (ADLS), Power BI, Data Bricks, Denodo, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Collibra, Alteryx, DataIku); significant knowledge of data management and related technologies such as data quality, data governance, master data management, data warehousing, BI/Analytics

  • Working knowledge of infrastructure, networking and security technologies; experience operating IaaS, SaaS, PaaS platforms and integration with on-premise applications; regulatory compliance experience preferred (SOX/ISO/GDPR)
