    Position summary

    • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and compliant financial reporting

    • Ensure proper accounting and reporting of VAT, corporate income tax, and other local tax obligations

    • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities, leading statutory audits and managing tax inspections

    • Coordinate and manage tax and VAT audits, ensuring proper documentation, responses, and resolution of findings

    • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, provisions, and key accounting judgments

    • Oversee AP/AR processes and ensure strong internal controls across all accounting cycles

    • Prepare and sign off statutory financial statements and related disclosures

    • Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records, statutory books, and supporting documentation

    • Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and compliance frameworks

    Who You Are

    Experience

    • 7-10+ years of experience in accounting, with solid exposure to Romanian GAAP

    • Proven experience in a Chief Accountant / Lead Accountant / Senior GL role with statutory ownership

    • Strong hands-on experience with statutory audits, VAT compliance, and tax audits/inspections

    • Experience interacting with external auditors (e.g., Big4) and local tax authorities

    • Experience in multinational or shared services environments is a strong advantage

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics

    • CECCAR qualification (expert contabil) strongly preferred or in progress

    Technical Skills

    • Strong knowledge of Romanian accounting and tax legislation (VAT, CIT, local compliance)

    • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, NetSuite, Dynamics, or similar)

    • Advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis

    Languages

    • Romanian: fluent

    • English: professional working proficiency
