We have an opening for a Weapons Infrastructure Construction Manager. You will plan, manage, and execute equipment recapitalization installation and facility modification projects to support weapons infrastructure. The infrastructure projects are needed to support capabilities such as the nuclear weapons program in high explosives, warhead test and evaluation, physics performance evaluation, and science, technology, and engineering. This position is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
In this role you will
Additional job responsibilities, at the TSS.4 level
Manage multiple complex projects and budgets simultaneously. Develop and implement rigorous construction management methods and tools to ensure successful execution of infrastructure projects.
Use subject matter expertise in executing construction projects including electrical installations using knowledge of NFPA 70E and NEC Code, and mechanical installations using knowledge of California, ICC (International Code Council), or equivalent Plumbing/Mechanical Codes.
Apply subject matter expertise, technical breadth, critical thinking, and in-depth analysis to develop and implement a systems approach and best practices for installation, construction, and commissioning of programmatic equipment projects. Influence technical direction by developing efficient processes to execute projects. Implement solutions to highly complex engineering-related problems.
Act as a construction technical expert, working closely with program managers and weapons equipment and facility portfolio managers to ensure project execution meets approved cost, scope, and schedule requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of the construction manager role with experience in the installation of equipment, supporting utilities, and facilities construction.
Experience effectively managing equipment installation and construction projects.
Significant experience interpreting and applying local, state, federal safety standards, codes, laws and regulations, environment, safety, and health policies and procedures, and OSHA regulations to each construction project.
Ability to devise solutions to complex issues, to take initiative to develop innovative solutions for successful project execution, and to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively direct contractors, collaborate in a team environment, and provide advice to management.
Proficient computer skills using software which includes Microsoft Office, MS Project, and construction project management software such as Procore.
