s. This position reports to our Principal Microgrid engineer and will be based out of Framingham, MA.
Hybrid Options Available: (2 - 3 days) a week in office or onsite Lab.
The Challenge:
Work with switchgear manufacturers (and other OEMs) like Schneider Electric or Eaton to develop innovative designs and costing that are scalable to many jobs and customer sites. This includes working at voltage levels of 13.8, 4160, 480, and 208 depending on site and system size
Provide significant input to the solar, battery, and generator designs to optimize performance, reliability, and sustainability for each customer site
Lead on the full life-cycle of BESS and DER project design, guiding projects from conceptual design through to full system design,
Interface with equipment and technology vendors,
Utilize your strong technical and communication skills to interface with all aspects of the business and customers
Work extensively with our Business Development (BD) teams to evaluate and develop the right technical solutions
Work with the BD, execution, and commercial teams on specific projects to ensure the integration of the Microgrid is technically correct, practical, and cost-effective. This includes working with existing service entrance one-line drawings, or creating new ones, to provide the best design interface for functionality and cost
Investigate the interconnection which includes modifications to existing design concepts that are applicable to each site
Manage engineering consultants in the preparation of detailed engineering and construction drawings and specifications.
What You Bring to The Table:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program with a focus on the power side and minimum of six (6+) years experience in the design and construction of power/generation/renewable energy projects
Must have a deep understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, UL, ISO)
Develop system-level schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation for BESS installations
Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of BESS systems
Conduct factory acceptance tests and on-site commissioning of BESS systems to ensure they meet performance and safety standards
Thorough technical understanding of distributed energy technologies, including some combination of solar, battery, and reciprocating engines/turbines
Experience with Microgrid control, Demand Management, Behind-The-Meter storage, Electric Vehicle Charging, Solar and Wind power generation and related Power flow and Energy modelling
Project management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
Knowledge of the various DER power sources within the Microgrid and how they best interface with the utility to provide the most efficient system.
Knowledge of emissions from the utility side as well as each of the DERs.
Knowledge of systems controls for all the, BESS, DERs and how they can be utilized to accomplish specific operating goals while part of the Microgrid. These goals provide economic returns for us and the customer.
AutoCAD experience (for creating conceptual one-line diagrams and site layouts).
Experience in submitting interconnection applications, and reviewing Utility studies which may include Detailed Studies, Facility Studies, and System Impact Studies.
Excellent communication skills possessing the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people to make projects work.
Would be nice if you also had:
PE in power or progressing towards that license.
5+ years' experience within Renewable electrical/design engineering,
Experience with DG or Utility-scale BESS system design is MUST,
Advanced courses in power or higher-level degree in the field are preferred

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
