Leidos is seeking a Mission Performance and Improvement (MPI) Advisor for the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) in support of the National Science Foundation and the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The ASC MPI team orchestrates ASC’s management of performance, risks, and incidents, using continuous improvement methodologies to: reduce variability; foster a culture of effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability; and ensure alignment of activities with programmatic objectives. MPI Advisors provide guidance, training, monitoring, and reporting for performance-related activities throughout ASC. This position allows for 100% telework.

Deployment to Antarctica may be required at the discretion of management (frequency/length subject to flow of business). The individual in the position must successfully complete the physical and dental examinations as required by the National Science Foundation for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.

    About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

    • Vision:  Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

    • Mission:  To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines.  The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develop processes and provide oversight to ensure adherence to the ASC framework for developing strategic plans; managing performance, risks, and incidents; driving consistency; and maintaining fidelity.

    • Collaborate with functional areas to ensure risks and incidents are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and handled. Lead risk/incident/response owners through concept, planning, execution, and implementation phases for effective and timely action.

    • Facilitate the training and use of Continuous Improvement (CI) tools; coordinate with stakeholders to drive improvement efforts that create or correct trends toward favorable results.

    • Facilitate analysis of scenarios to help process owners identify areas for improvement in projected outcomes or root cause in actual outcomes.

    • Assist leadership in crafting metrics that accurately measure progress of business and operational activities.

    • Perform ongoing coordination of performance management metrics, working with team members to evaluate the effectiveness/efficiency of operations.

    • Coordinate organizational change management efforts to enable achievement of programmatic objectives

    • Use business intelligence tools to analyze data/trends and prepare reports.

    • Inform senior management on the status of programmatic threats, opportunities, and emerging trends; identify critical areas to monitor, and coordinate efforts to escalate incidents, findings, and feedback to appropriate stakeholders.

    • Assist leaders with translating deficiencies and potential advantages into action plans; provide recommendations to enhance practices in alignment with recognized frameworks.

    • Follow written policies and procedures for business activities.
