More About the Role:
Leidos is seeking a Lab Support Engineer to support related efforts for SMIT, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT), Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, the Leidos team will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network. The successful candidate will support planning, designing, and maintaining service supported in the NEN lab facilities.
What You'll Get to Do:
The Lab Support Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the Navy Enterprise Network labs located in St. Louis and San Diego.
•Work within lab operations supporting Windows servers, desktops, Linux systems and various application patching, software version updates, network and security configurations.
•Assist with database administration including installation, configurations, upgrades, consolidation, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance.
•Provide technical and operational input to Install and configure SQL DBs.
•Perform system and database administration to ensure optimal system performance, maintain the security posture, and minimize customer service interruptions.
•Aide in effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, certificate management and maintenance of high availability lab services for engineering and testing of solutions.
•Install and maintain security patches on the operational and development system, which includes but is not limited to, Red Hat Linux ,Windows 2008/2k8R2/2k12, VMWare.
•Utilize Windows automation processes with PowerShell to improve or enhance day-to-day operations to create team efficiencies & reduce manual processes.
•Monitor and evaluate system performance and capacity trends; also monitor, evaluate and maintain storage, to include firmware and software upgrades and patching.
•Perform standard storage administration tasks (e.g. replacing failed drives, allocating new shares, creating fileservers, managing quotas, managing data ownership and permissions).
•Perform administrative work using and installing new and existing physical or web-based server application systems in a smart card Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) environment.
•Respond to system faults, analyzing and correcting applications or errors to reestablish service.
•Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary.
•Develop and maintain processes, checklists, and procedures.
•Knowledge of Agile management and CM tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
•Mentor and review the work of junior team members.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
-Requires B.S. Degree and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
•Five (5) or more years’ experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to qualify for a Secret clearance to start the program.
•Hands-on experience in working with DoD network infrastructure.
•Ability to multi-task, self-assign work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
•Motivated self-starter with ability to lead and work in a matrix organization and communicate effectively with peers, subordinates and program leadership.
•Strong analytical, communication and troubleshooting skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
•Experience working in large information technology enterprise environments.
•Experience in collaborating with other enterprise technologists both internal and external to resolve complex technical issues.
•Travel may be required.
•After hours and weekend support and/or alternative work schedules are required at various points in the year.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
•Experience working on DoD programs, specifically Navy programs.
•Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
•Experience developing SE artifacts in multiple systems development paradigms and methodologies.
•Certifications:
-Security+.
-ITIL.
Pay Range $84,500.00 - $130,000.00 - $175,500.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
