Description
The Senior Power Systems Engineer provides support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Power Services Group under the National Air-Space Implementation Support Contract (NISC) with respect to power engineering.
The successful candidate will:
Provide engineering consultation for compliance with FAA and industry standards and best practices and provide recommendations for solutions in all phases of the system’s lifecycle including: contract, policy, site survey, design and design review, and implementation.
Participate in the development, administration, management, logistic, and strategy of project planning and implementation
Develop new simulation and graphical solution to complex engineering problem using MATLAB/COMSOL/EDSA/SKM and/or other engineering design tools
Manage National Change Proposal, Configuration Control Board process, and departmental website
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering disciplines such as power systems, communications, RF, analog and digital systems.
The following set of skills/knowledge will lead to successful career in this position:
Knowledge and direct work experience in power system is required.
The ideal candidate must have strong writing skills exhibited through thesis or dissertation papers at academic institutions; white papers, or publications at nationally/internationally recognized technical organizations.
Experience with some or all of the following are required: short circuit coordination, arc flash studies, engine generator, UPS, grounding, lightning protection.
Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, NEC, and other industry standards related to electrical power engineering.
The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of FAA/DoD systems, technical policies, standards and orders.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Power Systems, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
Registered Professional Engineer license or Senior member of IEEE is preferred.
Power engineering experience is a must. Other electrical engineering discipline must have strong knowledge of power systems.
Strong writing skills exhibited through published papers at bonafide national/international engineering organization
Preferred Qualifications:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00
