Description
The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for an experienced and motivated Software Engineer to work in our Reston, VA office in a hybrid model. This is an exciting opportunity to use your software engineering experience, along with your keen interest, talent, and passion in agile systems development and DevSecOps. Your experience will be applied on refactoring legacy applications into lightweight distributed functional building blocks (microservices) of applications using containers and APIs in support of systems integration. The use of automated software engineering functions will be required to support the development of innovation concepts in a research and development setting for Defense mission solutions. In this mission we will define requirements, analyze, design, and implement system models and simulations, configure, and integrate tactical communication networks and incorporate satellite, enterprise, wireless and cloud / edge technologies. You will engage in supporting the software architecture and requirements definition, and will be involved in the design, development, testing, validation and verification of software that support and implement models and simulations of a digital systems engineering artifacts.
Primary Responsibilities
Be the main interface to our Leidos Software Factory outreach while leading the software engineering effort of the R&D project
Perform as the Scrum Master leading a team of software engineers working at different location
Learn and adopt Leidos SW Factory best practices to be adopted by our R&D project
Own the software development, systems integration, and delivery of system application pieces, and serve as a software engineering lead for the project
Build software solutions where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the mission and its customer first
Share with non-software engineers the art of developing software and systems integration interfaces (APIs) for complex, large scale distributed systems
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, or another STEM-related field, and 8+ years of prior relevant software engineering experience or Master's with 6+ years of prior relevant experience
Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance
Experience with Jira, Confluence tools and version control systems (e.g., Git/BitBucket)
Experience and strong understanding of Agile SAFe
Understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, TCP/IP
Hands-on expertise programming in C++, Java/JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, RUST
Experience with REST, JSON, XML, SAML, YAML, microservices
Experience with Agile software development across in a Microsoft Windows and/or RedHat Enterprise Linux environment
Experience across the entire software lifecycle from early requirements gathering to rapid prototyping through delivery and sustainment of distributed systems or complex application(s)
Deep understanding of software design patterns, (i.e. UML)
Working knowledge of agile Development and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies and tools
Experience and technical skills with cloud technologies/services (i.e., AWS, Azure, etc.)
Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases (analysis, design, and implementation)
Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of continuous integration, delivery, and automated test tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, JMeter
Experience with VMWare toolsets
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification (e.g., Certified SAFe Agilist) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
Current cybersecurity, cloud, and network product certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNE, AWS)
Advanced Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Physical Sciences (STEM)
Experience with Reverse Engineering of Subsystem components of complex systems and applications to understand, support and refactor their Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCI)
Active Top Secret DoD security clearance
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00
