Description
Leidos is seeking a Systems Engineer to work on NASA's Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC). The candidate selected for this exciting opportunity will work on a new project. The position will support exploration projects by developing lifecycle products and by guiding team members in the creation of systems engineering products. A strong foundation in human spaceflight technical engineering knowledge is required and excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal / external stakeholders for project success. This role will apply systems engineering expertise as NASA continues to evolve systems for exploration missions, including: Gateway, lunar surface, Mars transit, and Mars surface missions.
This position is located at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
Must have US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participate in and contribute to project activities throughout the lifecycle: from early concept development to trade studies, design, fabrication, integration, testing, verification / validation, and operations through to sustainment.
Implement systems engineering principles / practices across systems and provide leadership (mentoring, training, process development) to enhance the organizational capability for systems engineering.
Manage project team activities, including: defining system stakeholder requirements, decomposing system functions, developing technical specifications, negotiating and capturing system interfaces, conducting design analyses, performing verification / validation activities, supporting system testing and operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8+ years of applicable professional experience with increasing levels of technical and leadership responsibilities
Technical, functional, and / or project lead experience in systems engineering or a related technical field
Experience designing and developing products for sustainability
Ability to translate systems engineering concepts across various disciplines
MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering
Prior experience with NASA, DoD and / or industry systems engineering
Experience seeking out and successfully obtaining new work
Awareness of spaceflight impacts to human physiology, behavior, and medical state
Systems Engineering Certification or formal training
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $150,000.00 - $202,500.00
