Leidos Defense has a dynamic opportunity for a WAN Network Engineer to work at our customer site at the National Maritime Intelligence Center, Suitland, MD.
Become a member of the team leading the way with network administration and engineering related support for elements within the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) and locations around the world. As a Network professional, you’ll be working with a team of forward thinking, innovative, and highly motivated Network Engineers dedicated to implementing and leveraging the latest capabilities of Network Engineering and Administration support. What Will You Do
•Provide Network Engineering support at the Open Systems Interconnection Layers one through four, however knowledge of systems/applications working at the higher layers is imperative to the continued success of the network.
•Isolate and resolve complex network, cryptographic, and telecommunication problems associated with the operating system of the CISCO devices along with the LAN/WAN interface that includes cryptographic equipment and telecommunications technologies. This encompasses roughly 134 telecommunications circuits ranging from T1 to OC-192 covering both serial and Ethernet technologies.
•Update and support systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space; Support can include, implementing critical patches, reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.
•Work independently and across IT functional boundaries (other network administrators, system administrators, database administrators, etc.) with configuration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrade and system management of network components and other systems to maintain maximum operability to critical mission objectives.
•Provide network administration support: install, configure, maintain security, install patches, and perform necessary upgrades to keep network devices up-to-date and secure, to include physical patching and software (CISCO IOS).
•Maintain daily operations, monitoring, problem identification/resolution of server/systems, applications, operating systems and analyze activity and performance to ensure system/application is providing optimum performance and availability.
•Perform required re-accreditation actions such as DISA STIG review, IOS upgrades, vulnerability scan remediation, and document various required lists (PPSM, H/W, and S/W) during the network’s accreditation cycle.
•Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins related to CISCO products and develop and implement remediation plans.
Your Areas of Knowledge & Expertise (job qualifications)
•Bachelor’s degree with 4 or more years of practical Network Administration experience in WAN technologies and telecommunications environments; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
•Proficiency with various network management tools (i.e., SolarWinds, iPerf, Wireshark, etc.)
Experience with
Security Clearance & Certifications Required
•A current DoD Top Secret/SCI
•CompTIA Security+ certification
•CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Travel– Up to 10%

Pay Range $66,300.00 - $102,000.00 - $137,700.00
