Description and Requirements
Responsibilities:
Involve in working directly with industrial designers, product planners, and mechanical engineers to define the design requirements, whilst focusing on customer experience.
Research global consumer lifestyle and design trends, cross-referencing inspirations from fashion & beauty, furniture, and home accessories, automotive, packaging, music culture, fine art, and digital media.
Identify key industry trend narratives that drive strategic versatility and broad demographic appeal. Ensuring CMF strategies and ID concepts are flexible from the outset.
Research innovative materials and processes, to drive product innovation, engaging directly with suppliers.
Lead and organize workshops with suppliers and prototyping activities, working closely, with the design group to develop feasible ingredients for mass production.
Create CMF specification documents to enable engineers to understand product concepts. Ensuring all materials are color-matched, approved, and clearly documented.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in CMF design or equivalent industrial design with a focus on cosmetics, accompanied by expressive portfolio. Experience in mobile phone design and smart wearable devices is preferred.
Skilled with color storytelling, basic hand sketching, and digital software, including but not limited to Adobe, to convey pattern design intentions.
Ability to develop complete color, material, and finishing design proposals.
Basic knowledge of design process from concept design, design strategy to concept development and manufacturing execution.
Capacity to manage multiple projects and products simultaneously, with strong problem-solving skills to address design challenges.
Basic knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, material attributes, finishing techniques related to reliability testing, and eco-friendly materials.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in industrial and product CMF design.
Ability to drive outsourcing and communicate effectively across different organizations.
