Position summary

At LexisNexis Canada our sales team is the engine that drives our business. We are seeking a high performing sales leader to direct a team of driven sales representatives in the Corporate and Public Market segment, toward meeting company objectives in the areas of new sales revenue, retention revenue, growth of base business and market penetration.

Our ideal candidate has a proven track record implementing and managing the sales cycle, excelling at lead generation, relationship building, and closing deals. We’re seeking a quick learner with strong negotiating skills, and a track record of success who can inspire the same in others. The role demands a leader with a sense of curiosity, the ability to coach, advise motivate and drive a high-performing sales team.

As the Senior Sales Manager your key roles and responsibilities will include

  • Lead team to meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goal objectives
  • Create and execute a strategic sales plan that expands customer base
  • Research consumer needs and identify how our solutions meet them
  • Hire, coach, motivate, set objectives, and monitor performance of a team of sales representatives
  • Ensure skills of our sales professionals are in line with the demands of the marketplace and company sales objectives, including product knowledge, key process knowledge, knowledge of the competition, sales techniques, relationship building, making effective sales presentations and negotiation skills
  • Achieve company objectives through effective planning, setting sales goals, analyzing performance data, and projecting future performance
  • A proponent of consultative selling modalities. Familiarity with the Challenger Sale model is an asset.
  • Work closely with certain key accounts, alongside the Account Manager, to ensure client satisfaction, user engagement and secure renewal
  • Translate company and departmental objectives into sales programs and initiatives 
  • Utilize and reinforce all required sales processes, tools, and systems
  • Oversee the sales team to ensure company quotas and standards are met by holding weekly check-ins with team to set objectives for the week/month/quarter and monitor progress regularly
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Identify and repair pre-and-post-sale process gaps to ensure maximum efficiency, customer focus and continuous improvement of the sales motion
  • Work collaboratively with the team of sales professionals as well as key internal stakeholders. Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience

  • At least 7 years of demonstrated successful sales experience preferably in a SAAS or B2B environment

  • 2+ years in B2B sales management, preferably with SaaS products

  • Demonstrated experience in driving a disciplined sales process and measurement

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Superb leadership and team building skills. Loves to build and develop strong, collaborative teams.

  • Strong time management, organizational and forecasting skills

  • Understanding and expertise in computer software tools including Windows, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Salesforce.com etc.

  • Ability to travel periodically

  • Legal industry experience is an asset
