    Lucid Motors is looking for a highly motivated Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.  In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with Design Engineering, Quality and Production to take product design changes and new designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

    You Will:

    • Directly responsible and the subject matter expert on the roll hemming process, this will entail the following:
    • Ensuring proper functionality / availability – making sure production volume requirements are met.
    • Improving / maintaining quality – making sure dimensional accuracy and surface quality goals are met.
    • Ongoing preventive maintenance in accordance with the maintenance plan (check hemming tools for cracks, breaks, dirt, wear; fix problems by repairing / exchanging defect components).
    • Analyzing manufacturing deviations (hemming radius / packaging thickness, flush / gap / surface, hem sealer expulsion / hem sealer coverage).
    • Defining and implementing suitable countermeasures (hemming trials / identifying corrections needed on single parts).
    • Supporting the design of new equipment and assemblies (design reviews and buy-offs of equipment, design reviews and buy-offs of assemblies, coordinating hemming flange length and angles.
    • Analyze root causes of problems through evaluation of measurement data and “hands on panel/fixture fit techniques.”
    • Perform and lead complex problem-solving issues with respect to dimensional accuracy, fit and function in all manufacturing areas (body, and assembly).
    • Analyze BIW (Body in White) measurement reports and single part (supplier) measurement reports.
    • Develop concepts to improve BIW tooling (dies and assembly fixtures) and inspection devices.
    • Initiate product “re-work” instructions.
    • Confirm results of internal and external changes.
    • Develop specifications for custom equipment.
    • Closely collaborate with external equipment integrators on custom automation equipment design.
    • Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes.

    You Bring:

    • BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
    • 5+ years in Automotive Manufacturing or closely related field.
    • Experience in automotive tool making or similar experience.
    • Expert in analyzing root causes of BIW assemblies as well as in identifying and implementing. effective countermeasure using analytical, conceptual and creative thinking; Outstanding spatial ability. This applies in particular to hemming processes.
    • Excellent understanding of hemming and gluing processes.
    • Outer Surface Panel quality inspection experience.
    • Tool & Die, Welding experience and roller hemming robot programming is a plus.
    • Experience working with Aluminum panels.
    • Strong understanding of tolerance analysis.
    • Strong understanding of adhesive and sealer processes.
    • Solid understanding of sheet metal / aluminum stamping processes.
    • Solid understanding of technical drawings, specifications, functional dimensions, measurement reports etc.
    • Experience designing mechanical equipment, fixture and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is also a plus).
    • Familiarity with automated manufacturing equipment.
    • Experience introducing new equipment and new processes into a production environment.
    • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
